KB's get swatted by the Goonies, but put the Sting on the Hepcat Bruisers!

Those super spiffy Kicker Bees played their first regular season games last week.

In the first half of the very first doubleheader for the Division the Kicker Bees faced off against those cup flippin' Goonies. The Goonies have picked up a lot of speed in the post season especially at shortstop and thirdbase which makes this Kicker Bee wonder if Guy S. isn't offering fancy cars, hard earned cash and to lure these speedy players, perhaps a WAKA investigation into the Goonies recruiting practices is in order !

The KB's gave it their all but in the end the Goonies busted out the fly swatter and smooshed the KB's in a 5-2 win over the spiffy swarm.

With impending darkness the KB's confronted the Hepcat Bruiser's for the second half of the double header. On the field the Kicker Bees found a sweet spot in their fielding positions and the KB's held their own against "Tall Guy" the Hepcats fireball hurlin pitcher. The sun went down on the Hepcat Bruisers and the Kicker Bees headed back to the hive with a 5-2 victory over those meanacing Cats and Dogs.

Thats right my lil muffins the KB's have won their first game! It's smooth sailin for the rest of the season!

Kicker Beeeeee-day!

This Sunday one Kicker Bee has additional reasons to consume mass amounts of Cadbury Easter Eggs....

A very Happy Birthday to Amanda McMahon!

Amanda shares her special day with the likes of such notable characters as: Charlie Chaplin (actor), Henry Mancini (composer) Pope Benedict XVI, Dusty Springfield (singer), Margot Adler (journalist), Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (basketball player), and Martin Lawrence (actor-comedian)!

Preseason Tourney Craziness

A big yipee-kai-yai-yay to the Kicker Bees this Friday. Last night at the preseason tournament the Kicker Bees stung the Goonies to win their first "game".

In the next bracket the Bees faced off against SuperToe. The Bees swarmed and held their own against this well established team but in the end Team SuperToe stomped on the Kicker Bees' wings.

A big thank you to all the KB's who came out and give it their all last night!

So have a peep or two on this Easter Weekend, and if you're a member of the Tribe have a very blessed Pesach.

And rest up Kicker Bees, because next week its the "real deal".

Pre-season Tourney, its March Madness Part Deux!

Pre-Season Tournament this Thursday!
The pre-season tournament is this Thursday, April 13.

KICKER BEES MUST BE AT THE FIELDS AT 615 READY TO PLAY!!!

OUR FIRST VICTIMS ARE THE GOONIES!!!

The brackets are out...Click Here to see the Brackets!

The Rules:

1. Each team is given about 10 minutes or 15 outs (the equivalent of a 5-inning game) to kick. At the 9 min mark, the refs will let the kicking team know that they are down to their final kicker. After this kicker, any people left on base will not count as runs!

2. Each team will need to keep track of runs scored and outs accumulated. The team with the most runs advances to the next round. In the event of a tie, the fewest number of outs will be used. In the event of a tie in number of outs, there will be a kick-off. Each team will send one player of its choosing to get one kick from a neutral pitcher. The team that kicks the ball the furthest wins.

3. In Round 1, a coin-flip will determine who bats first. In all subsequent rounds, the higher-scoring team will get to choose.

4. We tried to schedule it so that teams will have at least 5 minutes to prepare for their next game.

5. A team must have at least 8 players (4 girls/4 guys) for the game to qualify. If a team has fewer than 8, they can still play, but will not advance to the next round regardless of the outcome of the game.

6. Substitutions: Unlimited while in the field. A set kicking order must be followed. The round-robin:Each team will get to kick for about 10 minutes (for a total of 30 minutes of play). Teams will rotate between 3 positions: Fielding, kicking, and sitting out (providing a ref).A. In each round-robin, the team that scored the most runs gets to pick whether they want to kick first (pro: more daylight), second, or third (pro: you know how many runs you need to win). The second-highest scoring team then gets to pick when they want to kick.B. The rotation will work as follows: Fielding -> Kicking -> Sitting out

Kicker Bees-a-mania!

~Whatcha gonna do when Kicker Bees-a-mania runs wild on you!~

It's premiere night for the Kicker Bees! This is only a pickup game and while it doesn't count towards our season standings I hope everyone gets excited about our debut!

A few notes about the division:

BARS
The division has not signed a contract with a bar. We are still in negotiations with O'learys but apparently its a sticky situation but rest assured WAKA is smoothing out everything. With that said WAKA is encouraging us to gather at O'learys for our post game socializing so we can kind of try O'learys on for size.

O'learys is located on the corner of Clopper and Quince Orchard. Diagnol from Chevy's. Here's a link to the website: http://www.mrsolearys.net/
I hope you all decide to come to the bar afterwards and join the division for a drink or some yummies for your tummies.

Also I have a board meeting post games at the fields so I may get to the bar a little later than you all. For those who didn't know I"m also the WAKA Gaithersburg Social Chair.

CARS
Tonight may be the first time some of you have been to the fields. Just to clarify everyone usually meets on the fields to the right of the middle school (if you are facing the school) Also if you are looking for us I'll try to be there pretty early...I drive a blue PT Cruiser. And I'll have my trademark pigtails in, you can't miss me.

BROKEN HEARTS--er balls...
Last item...*whew* I got a regulation ball this week also if anyone is interested in getting their own kickball, amazon sells them for $5 less than the WAKA store plus delivery is more timely (i ordered on monday and got it yesterday) if you are interested in having your very own redball let me know and i'll send you the link.

Feel the Sting....

Thanks to all who came out to practice on Sunday.

It truly was a great practice! We busted a ball, got a little sun (in some cases too much *my poor face*) and showed some mad skills.

I hope all those who came out had a great time! I know I sure did. And this practice only helped to fuel my excitement about the upcoming season. You all are just super-fantastico!

Remember we have pickup games this Thursday. Game time is 630 but the earlier you arrive the more warm-ups we can do! I plan to be there around 6!
